HIV Specialists specialize in managing the care of patients with or at risk of acquiring HIV. To earn this credential, providers must be a licensed physician, nurse practitioner or physician assistant, complete 45 hours of HIV-related continuing education and earn a passing score on the HIV Credentialing Exam every three years.

Earning Criteria
Required

Provide direct HIV care to at least 25 persons living with HIV within the 36 months preceding the date of application.
Complete a minimum of 45 credits or activity hours of HIV and/or HCV-related continuing education within the 36 months preceding the date of application.
Optional
Earn a passing score on the Academy's HIV Credentialing Exam.
